Construction Underway at Leslie Groves Tennis Courts

Post Date:10/03/2025

The Leslie Groves Tennis Courts are currently closed as the City of Richland began major improvements to modernize the facility. The project includes construction of a new concrete tennis court, installation of new netting equipment, a rebound wall, and replacement of the perimeter fencing. This facility will remain a tennis court amenity, and no pickle ball accommodations are planned.

Initial work, including the concrete court pour and installation of fence posts, is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2025. Final surfacing and equipment installation will follow in Spring 2026, once weather conditions allow for the finishing coat to be applied.

During construction, the tennis courts will remain closed to the public. In addition, a section of the Riverfront Trail adjacent to the courts is closed between the fork near the Leslie Groves Boat Launch and the parking lot off Saint Street. Detour signage is in place directing pedestrians and bicyclists to the nearby parallel section of trail along the river.

The City of Richland appreciates the community’s patience during this project. Once complete, the updated tennis courts will provide a safer, more enjoyable recreational space for residents and visitors alike. A map identifying the closure and detours is attached.
