Active management of the City's public trees are necessary for aesthetics and, most importantly for public safety. The City employs a municipal Arborist who manages and regulates the planting, maintenance, protection, removal and replacement of all public trees within the city limits. The Arborist maintains an inventory and management plan of the City tree system. A component of this management plan is to remove and replace dangerous, diseased and dead trees and proactively plant new, appropriate trees.

In 2016, the City planted  a total of 88 trees in Howard Amon Park, John Dam Plaza, Crested Hills Park, Desert Rim Park, Claybell Park and along Stevens Dr. George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue.
