Effective March 17, 2020, and continuing for a minimum of two weeks, the Richland Community Center will close to public admittance. Meals on Wheels will operate on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for meal pick-up only. No meal service will be available onsite. All programming is also cancelled until further notice. Lifeguard Training (LGT) Class

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course will help you develop skills and experience that will be valued by colleges and future employers. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for Lifeguards. Please note that passing of the LGT Course does not guarantee employment. Steps to becoming a certified lifeguard:

1. Sign up for Lifeguard Training

2. Pass the Pre-course Swim Test (Day 1 of LGT), (Swim Test includes: swim 300 yards continuously. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds, 2 minute treading water using legs only.) Red Cross Lifeguarding manual and CPR mask are included in the training fee and will be handed out upon passing the Pre-Course Swim Test.

Pre-Guard Prep

Ages 13+. Shadow on-duty lifeguards, receive hands-on experience, train in basic rescue techniques and get a behind the scenes look at the job of a lifeguard. Pre-Guard Prep is very beneficial for those interested in becoming a lifeguard at age 16. Learn prevention, response, professionalism, fitness and leadership.
